Barry has provided commercial lenders and credit officers with incisive analysis gained from over 35 years of experience in real estate appraising, appraisal review and regulatory mandates. Barry holds dual designations from the American Society of Appraisers, Real Property Urban and Real Property Ad Valorem.  He is a graduate of the University of Akron with a BA in prelaw and a minor in statistics. As chief executive officer, Barry is responsible for the day to day operations of the company.  He is a certified general appraiser in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Washington, Maryland and Michigan.  Barry was a valuation instructor for ASA, IAAO, and the University of Akron, as well as a guest lecturer at Cleveland State University, teaching USPAP, fundamentals, and income cap courses. He is a past member of the Akron Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority, served on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Summit Family Services, is twice past president of the Akron-Cleveland Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers and also served on the ASA’s International Admissions Committee and Real Property Committee. In his spare time he enjoys his family, car shows and as a licensed pilot enjoys flying vintage aircraft.

Chuck has developed a comprehensive background in both residential and commercial appraisal as well as review concentrating on unique properties bringing 38 years of experience to the firm. In addition to a commercial review appraiser, he is also a Nationally Certified USPAP instructor. With his previous background as a quality control and compliance officer in banking, Chuck provides both banking clients and appraisers with his unique knowledge of USPAP, OCC and FIRREA regulation and requirements. Chuck is also an instructor for the Appraisal Institute for various classes including the Uniform Standards of Professions Appraisal Practice.  Chuck is certified in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan, Delaware and Arizona. When not helping clients, Chuck enjoys spending time volunteering as a high school football referee and maintaining his 40 acres of agricultural land. 
 
Tom Smeader, MAI, SRA, Senior Vice President

With 41 years in the supervision and review of commercial appraisals, Tom brings invaluable experience to our team, directing the review process and staff, as well as handling compliance issues. Tom obtained his undergraduate degree in business administration (BBA) from Florida Atlantic University where he was a member of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business, and obtained his MBA from Ashland University. Tom has served as president of both the Northern Ohio Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and the Cleveland Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He also served multiple terms on the board of directors of both organizations.  Tom is a certified general appraiser in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, New York and New Jersey. He enjoys spending time with his family and trap shooting.

Dick is a senior residential appraiser and reviewer with more than 36 years of experience in financial institution backed loan appraisals. With his comprehensive knowledge based on years of practicing through the market’s highs and lows, Dick provides his clients with valuable, seasoned judgements. He obtained his undergraduate degree in finance (BS) from the University of Akron and is a certified residential appraiser with licenses in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Dick‘s spare time activities include basketball, golf, coaching junior high school boys, and enjoying his grandchildren.

Jim is a certified residential appraiser with over 36 years of experience. He is licensed in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan, obtaining both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Akron. Jim provides insightful review analysis as well as regulatory guidance to our clients and appraiser panel members.  Jim spends his off hours tending his expansive garden and being active in the community, including his participation in the zoning board.

Heather controls the hub of the LookingGlass operations interacting with lenders, banking assistants, and appraisers. With ground up experience in site development and 14 years of operation and implementation of upgrades, her value to our clients is immeasurable. She provides all users of the LookingGlass system with guidance, facilitating their individual needs, and is also on the training team for new clients.  Her expertise in part revolves around the ongoing operation of the web site, records retention and overall operations staff supervision. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and four wheeling.  She is also very artistic and is in high demand for her floral creativity and presentations.
